Kyren Wilson Wins Easily, Neil Robertson Stunned at English Open

Kyren Wilson produced a bright return at the English Open as he eased past Poland's Mateusz Baranowski in the first round at Brentwood. Wilson had a disappointing week earlier when he lost heavily to Liam Highfield at the British Open. He quickly regained his focus, scoring twice over 50 in a row and closing out the match safely. With this win, he will face Chang Bingyu, the recent Wuhan Open champion, in round two. In a big upset on opening day, Neil Robertson, the two-time former champion, lost 3-4 to Luo Zetao, a Chinese player ranked 117th in the world. Chris Wakelin, Zhang Anda and Ding Junhui also advanced. Chris needed a deciding frame to get past Louis Heathcote, while the Chinese pair both won.
