DHS is a major table tennis equipment brand, and the club's name is a commercial signal. Sponsorship has moved beyond elite endorsements into club-level naming rights. The first live-streamed fixture of the season also points toward slow but real commercialisation of domestic league coverage. There were human stories too. Fusion fielded father-son pairing Larry and Lorestas Trumpauskas. North Ayrshire deployed Paralympic medallist Billy Shilton, who pushed several matches to fifth games but could not prevent defeat. Ben Piggott of Ormesby had a high-volume, high-drama weekend, winning two deciding games and losing two tight matches. Caution is still required. Valanet's 'new international star' label was undermined within one weekend when he lost 0-3 to a youth player. eBaTT's win may prove a one-off upset. A single weekend cannot define a player's true level, and youth teams often regress once opponents have enough data. The opening round leaves three questions. Can eBaTT sustain their form?
